Dear BAF,
Almost a year on from last year's grant, I just wanted to update you with some exciting news and say another thank you.
I am pleased to announce that I have been offered a contract with Malvern St James Girls’ School in Malvern, Worcestershire in the United Kingdom. This would not have been possible had I not visited and worked with the school in October 2018 with the Stari Most project, made possible through funding from the Ballarat Art’s Foundation. Receiving a grant from the foundation last year opened up a whole new realm of possibility for me, introducing me to artistic engagement in communities that I didn’t even know existed. I was able to form friendships and connections that have now led to an offer of employment in a field that I passionately want to pursue.
The position is Performing Musician in Residence and Graduate Boarding Assistant to commence this September.
I feel so blessed to be able to accept a position that will utilise my experience and knowledge of the performing arts whilst introducing me to the role and responsibility of teaching and assisting in a boarding house. I would like to thank the Ballarat Arts Foundation for all of their support throughout last year, and for believing in the potential of our grant application to have great impact on our lives. I would also like to thank Federation University’s Arts Academy and Dr Richard Chew for allowing me to contribute to Stari Most and create future opportunities for myself.
As a Ballarat local it is inspiring to know there is so much happening in our city to foster the careers of young artists, and I hope that one day after my world-wide adventures I can come back to the place that will always be my home, and continue to help strengthen the next generation.
Cheers,
