Annual Grant Round

Each year the Ballarat Arts Foundation (BAF) offers grants to emerging artists through a suite of Named Awards and BAF Genre Awards.

These grants support emerging artists who have lived, studied or worked in Ballarat to undertake a project of any genre as their next step towards a career in the arts. In 2023, our Alumni number was over 400.

All BAF grants are funded through the generosity of our donors and benefactors, which may be groups, organisations or individuals, to further the aims of the Foundation.  We thank our vast network of industry, business, and community supporters.

BAF’s annual grant round for major projects typically opens in June. Applicants are interviewed in July, and notification of the outcome is communicated in August. Applications at other times (i.e., out-of-round applications) are only considered where there are exceptional circumstances. Applicants seeking out-of-round funding should provide evidence in their applications of the exceptional circumstances prevailing for an out-of-round application. Consideration of an out-of-round grant will depend on the availability of funds within BAF’s granting budget. Please contact us via email to express interest before submitting an out-of-round application.

The BAF Grants Program is competitive, and applications are assessed against a set of criteria and may progress to an interview with the selection panel.

You are welcome to submit an expression of interest so we can let you know when the next grant round opens or if other opportunities arise.
